Zoning board approves solar farm

January 6th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Times News reports the largest solar farm in Allegany County will be located on Warrior Mountain near Twiggtown in Flintstone after the Board of Zoning Appeals approved a special exception allowing construction of the substation following a public hearing Wednesday evening. “Obviously we’re happy with the decision,” said Ken Donithan, chief power engineer for Earth and Air Technologies, the company set to build the solar panels. “We think that the board made the right decision and we look forward to moving forward with the project.” Earth and Air Technologies, based in Westminster, has leased 20 acres of land on the 40-plus acre Browning farm property at Flintstone. About 7,500 solar panels will be constructed on 10 of those acres. Solar farms are permitted on agricultural land only after a special exception public hearing by a zoning board.

Calling the county is a joke they’re making money off it. They should of put it in their yard.
It won’t be jobs here they’re are all out of state workers.
Our home values are worthless. Look at the solar farm at Mexico Farms its disgusting.
This county is corrupt and took our beautiful views and destroyed it. They won’t call any of us back.
We deserve peace we’ve all lived here a long time.
