The eighth annual Western Maryland Kidney Ride will depart from Canal Place on Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. With Dr. John Davis a two-time kidney transplant patient, and his wife, Sue, as honorary chairs, the event travels along the Great Allegheny Passage from Cumberland to the Big Savage Tunnel and back. New this year is a challenging 38-mile road route. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. Bicycle helmets are required and can be borrowed at Cumberland Trail Connection, which will offer discounted bike rentals.
All participants who raise a minimum amount of $100 will receive a Kidney Ride T-shirt.
