On July 31, 2019 members of the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force, with the assistance of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police Gang Enforcement Unit, Garrett County Narcotics Task Force, Maryland State Police Cumberland Barrack, Cumberland Police Department and Cumberland Police Department’s C.E.R.T. executed a search and seizure warrant in the 700 block of Fayette Street, Cumberland, MD. The search and seizure warrant was a result of a month-long CDS investigation into the distribution of crack cocaine in the Cumberland area of Allegany County.
Located during the search warrant was a felony amounts of crack cocaine packaged for resale. As a result, Rashawn Younger, 18, of Cumberland, MD was arrested.
The investigation continued and on August 1, 2019 members of the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force with the assistance of the Maryland State Police Gang Enforcement Unit, Maryland State Police Cumberland Barrack, Garrett County Narcotics Task Force, Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and Cumberland Police Department arrested Carlos Bernard Mackall, 24 of Baltimore and Darien Manning, 18 of Cumberland for numerous felony CDS related crimes. During the arrest Mackall fled from police and was apprehended after a brief foot chase. Located on Mackall and Manning during the arrest was a large amount of crack cocaine, a large amount of Oxycodone pills and a large amount of U.S. Currency.
Through the investigation and search warrant, Younger was charged with the following:
- CDS DIST-NARC
- CDS: POSS W/I DIST: NARC
- CDS: POSESS-NOT MARIJUANA
Mackall was charged with the following:
- CDS: POSS W/I DIST: NARC
- CDS: DIST-NARC (2 Counts)
- CDS: POSSESS-NOT MARIJUANA
- RESIST/INTERFERE WITH ARREST
Manning was charged with the following:
- CDS DIST-NARC
- CDS: POSS W/I DIST: NARC (3 Counts)
- CDS: POSSESS-NOT MARIJUANA (3 Counts)
Younger, Mackall and Manning were all held without bail. The investigation is ongoing.
