The Maryland Senate Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee is conducting a hearing on two bills this afternoon that deal with the controversial fracking issue.

One of the bills would ban the practice, while the other would continue the current moratorium until local voters could vote whether they want to allow it or not.

We are in touch with sources on both sides of the issue.  It could be after 4 PM before the bills are heard.

WCBC is monitoring the hearing and will have continuing coverage of this issue.
