Several areas of the city as well as the town of Ridgeley were without or had limited water the past few days as crews worked to repair a 24-inch water main leak at Washington and Greene streets. Service was returned to most homes by Thursday afternoon; however, the city only made a temporary repair. The plan, according to Cumberland City Administrator Jeff Rhodes is to have a permanent repair along with a new valve for that area within thirty days.
