The Kirwan Commission on Innovation and Excellence in Education met three times in October and the potential price tag to implement its recommendations is continuing to grow. The 25-member group tasked to prescribe remedies and help boost the Maryland educational system pushed slightly closer to a final document before the Maryland General Assembly reconvenes in January- but Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine is becoming increasingly skeptical and frustrated. A member of the committee, Valentine says the projected costs for education under the current recommendations are astronomical- and funding sources have not yet been identified…
