A 15-year-old boy was injured Tuesday afternoon when he rode his scooter into the path of a pickup on Legislative Road near the Barton fire station, according to the Allegany County Sheriff's Office. The Cumberland Times News reports the youth was treated at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. Police said the boy was riding a scooter on the sidewalk when he rode out into the roadway and into the path of a 2004 Dodge truck operated by David A. Robertson, 51, of Westernport. Police said security video of the mishap was reviewed as part of the investigation. Robertson was cited for driving with a revoked license, driving without a license and failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision. Tri-Towns ambulance and the Barton Hose Company also responded to the scene upon alert by the Allegany County 911 emergency center shortly after 5 p.m.
