Shawn Hershberger, economic development coordinator for Cumberland, provided an update to the Mayor and City Council this week on the progress being made in relation to the economic strategic study that was completed for the city in October. The city solicited a $54,000 economic study, paid for largely by grants, from RKG Associates of Arlington, Va. One of the recommendations from the report was that the city create a nonprofit organization with a board, that includes members of the private sector, to oversee all economic development activity in the city and the county.
