Union Pickets Hazelton Prison

May 3rd, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Dozens of members and supporters from Local 240, American Federation of Government Workers, were out in force Saturday, settting up an informational picket along the access road to the Federal Prison at Hazelton, West Virginia.

Last weekend, WCBC News reported on a plan by federal officials to move up to 300 inmates from DC jails to Hazelton.  Local 240 President Richard Heldreth told us that move would put workers and the community at risk as there are numerous cases of COVID-19 in the DC prisons, and none at FCI Hazelton.

Since our initial report, Governor Jim Justice, US Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito, and Congressman David McKinley have been working to stop the transfer.  Late last week, Governor Justice said they had not been successful, yet, in their efforts.

Lucky enough to have a job and are ungrateful for it. Probably mad that they are not making more in unemployment like me though and I only have to log into the computer once a week. Nice picket line of 7 people though!

If you would have read the article Jim instead of assuming they are picketing over their job you would have understood instead of stating a stupid remark. Place foot in mouth now
