Ty Johnson, the former Fort Hill standout running back, had some ups and down during his rookie NFL season with the Detroit Lions- but saved his best for last. Johnson, the rookie out of Maryland, opened a few eyes Sunday in the teams finale- a 23-20 loss at home to Green Bay. Johnson gained 65 yards on three carries, including a 40-yarder that set up a Lions field goal. For the season he carried the ball 63 time sfor 273 yards- an impressive 4.3 yards per carry. The concensus coming out of the Lions coaching staff is that while Ty has a lot of improving to do to be part of the Lions' running back rotation going forward, he showed some tantalizing ability on his runs last weekend.
