According to a press release from Our Lady of the Mountains, Archbishop Lori has recommended changes to two local Roman Catholic parishes. St. Ambrose in Cresaptown will discontinue use permanently, while St. Patrick in Mt. Savage will be leased to a non-profit organization called "Friends of St. Patrick, Mt. Savage." The organization will be responsible for the operating expenses, and will hold two masses per year. The final mass at St. Ambrose will be held on Saturday January 25th at 5 p.m.; and a final mass will be held at St. Patrick in Mt. Savage January 26th at 8 a.m.
In addition, the Archbishop has determined that weekly masses and adoration will continue to be offered at the Shrine of Saints Peter and Paul in Cumberland.

The Archdiocese of Baltimore should be absolutely ashamed how they have treated the parishes of Western Maryland. First they give us sexual predator priest then they shutter and board up our churches. It is a total disgrace!

Ultimately it is lack of manpower to tend the flock, a greatly diminished flock and less money to maintain the church’s place AND pay massive legal costs associated with GENERATIONS of abuse claims. The Church has shredded its moral authority by it conspiracy of silence and it lack of compassion to victims. It is reaping the crop it planted.
