Just after midnight Saturday morning, Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barracks Troopers were dispatched to a tractor trailer overturned in the area of northbound I-81 at exit 1.
Upon arrival, Troopers located a tractor trailer overturned on its side on the ramp from Rt. 68 to northbound I-81. The vehicle had struck the bridge over Rt. 68 and proceeded off roadway through a guardrail, down an embankment, crossed over the ramp, striking a second guardrail, overturning on its side. The vehicle driver was identified as Antonio Gezet Brown of Reevesville, South Carolina.
The driver was pinned for a short time before being extricated by Williamsport Fire and EMS units. Brown was subsequently flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police Aviation Trooper 3. Maryland State Highway Administration responded to the scene for the ramp closure, not affecting northbound I-81 traffic flow.
The ramp was closed for an extended period of time while scene investigation and scene cleanup was being performed. The ramp currently remains closed as operations conclude. The crash is still under investigation with no charges being placed at this time. The Hagerstown Barrack was assisted in the investigation by Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
