On Tuesday night at 7:47 pm, troopers from the Cumberland Barrack responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 68 at the 57 mile marker, involving two tractor trailers. During the investigation it was discovered that the first tractor was traveling west bound when he crashed into the center median guardrail and overturned, spilling it’s cargo into the east bound lane. The second tractor trailer was traveling east bound, also at the 57 mile marker. Schaumburg’s truck struck the cargo lying in the fast lane and jack knifed. Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Little Orleans and Flinstone Volunteer Fire Department were on scene assisting the State Highway Administration for several hours.
