The Cumberland Times News reports Charles Patrick Gibson Jr., the Pennsylvania man wanted in connection with two bank robberies in Garrett County last December and two more in Ohio's Belmont County, is in jail and awaiting extradition to face charges in Maryland. According to published reports, the 57-year-old Gibson of Bridgeville was arrested Thursday in California by U.S. Marshals and the Service Pacific Southwest Regional Task Force when he was located at a homeless shelter. The arrest was made just days after Gibson allegedly held up two banks in San Bernadino County, using the same technique he allegedly used in the bank robberies in Garrett County and Ohio — handing a written note to tellers demanding money, according to the media reports. Gibson remained jailed Tuesday at the High Desert Detention Center in San Bernadino County. Gibson is wanted for robberies of the First United Bank branch at Friendsville the morning of Dec. 13 and the M&T Bank in Grantsville hours later. A search that day included a police lookout for the suspect and the suspect vehicle that was spotted a short time later in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
