Over two dozen accidents on Interstate 68 alone occurred Saturday afternoon as an intense snow system passed through our area.
At around 3 PM, there were only flurries, but by 3:30 PM, State Police in Allegany and Garrett Counties put the Snow Emergency Plan into effect. The National Weather Service reports that by 7 PM, four inches of snow had fallen.
If you were traveling when the snow hit, you know it got bad and got bad quickly. Roads crews were challenged by the snow. Police, fire and EMS units were also in action, tending to dozens of traffic accidents on the slick roads.
