With strong earnings continuing at the Rocky Gap Casino Resort, area students are benefitting in terms of scholarship opportunities. The Allegany County Commissioners established the “Allegany County Opportunity Scholarship” in December of 2013 designed to benefit county residents attending either Allegany College of Maryland or Frostburg State University. Funds for the scholarship are provided from a portion of County Government’s share- 2.25 percent- of the annual gross revenue generated by the video lottery machines at Rocky Gap Casino Resort.
