A total of five armed robberies being investigated state and local law enforcement officials in Maryland and West Virginia. Late Wednesday night, Late Wednesday, an armed robbery occurred at the Dollar General Store on Mount Savage Road in Corriganville. A lone gunman fled with an undetermined sum of money. Thursday at 7:15 p.m., the Mountaineer Mart on Route 28 in Short Gap was robbed, with WV State Police investigating. In Cumberlands, both the Circle K on Oldtown Road and the 7-Eleven on Maryland Avenue were robbed in the early morning hours Friday. The Circle K robbery was first reported with police crews dispatched approximately 3:00 a.m., and police units being dispatched to the 7-Eleven on Maryland Avenue at approximately 5:00 a.m. Finally at 9 a.m. Friday, police converged on the Puff Super Value tobacco shop on Potomac Street in Ridgeley after a man armed with a handgun reportedly robbed the business at about 9 a.m. Friday. That gunman fled in a Silverado truck operated by a female driver. The suspect was reportedly wearing dark-colored clothing.
