DelFest 2017 kicks off tomorrow- and as the popular festival begins its tenth year in Allegany County, somewhat of a cloud hangs over the future of the event as there remains no new long term contract. Commissioner Bill Valentine pre-maturely announced a five year deal had been agreed to in December- but days later, it was revealed that the deal was not official and that there were still a number of issues that needed to be resolved. Since that time the county appointed the Del Commission to work to resolve any remaining issues. The fact remains however, that following this Memorial Day weekend- DelFest is essentially a free agent likely to receive proposals from as many as a dozen communities across the country to host the event.
