On Tuesday at approximately 11:42 a.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Cumberland Barracks were observing traffic in the area of I68 at Exit 50 (Rocky Gap). A vehicle was stopped at that location for a speeding violation. The odor of raw marijuana was detected inside the vehicle during conversations with the occupants. A probable cause search was conducted which revealed 4 gold colored containers, all containing a greenish brown vegetable matter suspected marijuana, which totaled 14.1 grams. The containers were located on the passenger side floor boards. An orange shoe box on the driver's side rear seat revealed a large amount of US Currency, which totaled $9,813. The passenger, Marco Ortega, 19 yoa, of Smithsburg, MD, admitted to troopers that he was the owner of both the currency, and the CDS. He was arrested and transported to the Cumberland Barracks for processing. The currency was seized by the C3I Narcotics task force, who are assisting with the investigation. Ortega was charged with possession of CDS Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS Marijuana, and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Ortega was transported to the Allegany County Commissioner's Office where a bond review was held, and he was released on his personal recognizance…
