WBAL reports thee Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission has issued its first operating license for a dispensary. The Wellness Institute of Maryland will operate a location in Frederick, near Buckeystown Pike and English Muffin Way, officials with that firm said. Though the location is in Frederick, they'll offer home delivery for most of the state. They say that's especially important, as some who will benefit from medical marijuana the most may be the least able to drive to pick up their medicine.
The only approved grower of medical marijuana in Maryland has crops two months from harvest, Wellness Institute officials say. In the meantime, they advise patients and doctors to register with the state commission. Approved patients can make no-obligation pre-orders online or by phone at 1-866-696-3370.
Physicians can recommend cannabis for patients with a chronic or debilitating disease, or for other conditions that cause nausea. They can also prescribe it for cachexia; post-traumatic stress disorder; chronic or debilitating pain; seizures and persistent muscle spasms; glaucoma; anorexia; and any other symptom conventional medication can't adequately treat.
