The Maryland State Police lifted the Snow Emergency Plan in Allegany County at 10 AM Sunday, but more winter weather is on the way.
The National Weather Service has issued the following advisory:
FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM EST MONDAY... * HAZARD TYPES...FREEZING RAIN. PRECIPITATION MAY START OUT AS A BRIEF PERIOD OF SLEET LATE THIS EVENING...THEN QUICKLY CHANGE TO FREEZING RAIN AND CONTINUE THROUGH MID-MORNING ON MONDAY. * ICE ACCUMULATIONS...A TRACE TO ONE-TENTH INCH. * TIMING...THE PRECIPITATION WILL START THIS EVENING BETWEEN 10:00 PM AND MIDNIGHT IN THE ADVISORY AREA...THEN CONTINUE AS FREEZING RAIN SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MID-MORNING ON MONDAY. * IMPACTS...UNTREATED ROADS AND SIDEWALKS WILL BECOME SLICK AND HAZARDOUS DUE TO ICE. * WINDS...SOUTH 5 TO 10 MPH. * TEMPERATURES...TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE UPPER 20S TO NEAR FREEZING THIS EVENING...AND WILL REMAIN BELOW FREEZING UNTIL MID-MORNING ON MONDAY. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN OR FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS. SLOW DOWN AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
