Maryland procurement professionals will help small businesses in Western Maryland connect to state contracting opportunities during the Ready, Set, GROW! Procurement Connection Workshop on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs is conducting the free workshop in partnership with the Technical Innovation Center at Hagerstown Community College in the Career Programs Building.
“Public procurement can be a difficult process to navigate,” said Jimmy Rhee, special secretary of the Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs. “We want to help small businesses master the skills necessary to compete with confidence as they go after prime and subcontracting opportunities in the public sector.”
The workshop features a presentation on how to navigate the state’s procurement process with a focus on accessing small procurement opportunities. Participants will be able to meet with buyers from the State Highway Administration, Department of General Services, Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Transit Administration, the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, Maryland State Police, and Washington County Government. It will also include a presentation on the entrepreneurial services available to emerging technology companies through the Technical Innovation Center.
To register, visit the Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs’ website at www.goma.maryland.gov and follow the Ready, Set, GROW! link on the home page. For more information, contact Eduardo Hayden, the Minority Affairs’ small business outreach manager, at 410-697-9606 or eduardo.hayden@maryland.gov.
