On Friday morning at approximately 1:13am deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to west bound Interstate 68 at the Washington County line to assist the Washington County Sheriff's Office with a vehicle pursuit.
As deputies responded, dispatchers at the Allegany County 911 Center established direct contact with the Washington County Sheriff's Office Deputies in the pursuit which enabled deputies from both Washington and Allegany County to communicate vital information pertaining to the pursuit. Dispatchers kept Allegany County Sheriffs Office Deputies informed of the pursuit location while also keeping Washington County 911 up to date on the progress of the pursuit.
Washington County Sheriff's Office and Hancock Police Department were able to stop the fleeing vehicle on Interstate 68 west near the Flintstone exit. Upon the arrival of deputies from the Allegany County Sheriffs Office and Maryland State Police the occupants of the vehicle were detained.
A search of the driver's person yielded a small amount of controlled dangerous substance and paraphernalia. The driver Cody Lee Ford of Salem West Virginia was issued numerous traffic citations by the Washington County Sheriff's Office and was then taken into custody by the Allegany County Sheriffs Office in reference to the found controlled dangerous substance. The vehicle passenger was released without charges.
Ford was transported to the District Court Commissioner's office for an initial appearance. Ford was held in lieu of $1,000.00 bond and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center.
Ford is currently awaiting trial in both Washington and Allegany Counties in reference to the incident.
