A host of state and local elected officials were on hand Tuesday afternoon for an open house of the new Allegany County Sheriff’s Office. The one-story facility, which is adjacent to the County Office Complex on Kelly Road in Cumberland cost an estimated $700,000 to build with the county maintenance department doing in-kind work estimated at $300,000. The new 6,600 square-foot office nearly triples the size of existing office. It now has two evidence rooms, a deputies’ room, supervisor offices, a lunch room and a one-vehicle garage so that work on patrol cars can be done indoors.
