Although no compromise plan is in place just yet- local and state officials walked away from a meeting last week with CSX representatives feeling somewhat better about the future of the three deteriorating bridges on the city’s west side. The city of Cumberland has been in dispute with CSX for several years over who exactly owns the Washington Street, Cumberland Street and Fayette Street bridges. Last week, for the first time CSX officials met with representatives from the city, the county, the state delegation and Senator Ben Cardin to begin to negotiate a plan to address the problem structures. Allegany County Commissioners President Jake Shade attended the session, and said he hopes to see talks continue between the city and CSX to find a solution…
