In Maryland, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin is urging the FCC to increase the funding cap for a program aimed at improving the quality of health care available to patients in rural areas. In a letter to the FCC Chairman the senator emphasized the need to strengthen the Rural Health Care Program to address the shortage of internet connectivity for rural health care providers. Officials say the program has been improving the quality of health care in rural communities, but has never seen a funding increase despite this increased demand.
