School System Will See $350K Increase in MOE County Funding

The Allegany County School System will see an increase in allocated funds from the county as a part of an escalator clause passed by the Maryland Legislature in 2012. The increase amount is reported to be $350,000 coming from Allegany County, mandated by the state. The escalator clause is designed to even the playing field with 9 counties around the state exceeding their maintenance of effort funding to local school systems. The amount will continue to increase each year, costing the county more via maintenance of effort funding.
