The Newseum Institute has released the results of its 2017 “State of the First Amendment Survey”. The Newseum, headquartered in Washington, D.C., promotes, explains and defends free expression and the five freedoms of the First Amendment: religion, speech, press, assembly and petition. COO Gene Policinski talked with WCBC News about some of the survey findings, including what the public thinks of the media as well as the now popular catch phrase “fake news”. He said that the numbers show a far greater percentage of people who identify as republican or conservative are skeptical about the objectivity of the mainstream media as opposed to those who view themselves as more liberal.
