A busy Frday for city police:
On June 21, 2019 Cumberland City Police served two fugitive warrants on John Tyler Brennan, age 27 of Ridgeley, West Virginia. One warrant charges Brennan with violation of probation and the second warrant with reckless driving, fleeing police. Brennan was served with a fugitive warrant and taken before the District Court Commissioner. Brennan was held in the Allegany County Detention Center without bond. Brennan will be extradited back to West Virginia.

On June 21, 2019 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 207 East Elder Street for an assault in progress. Upon the officers arrival they made contact with a female victim. Officers were advised that prior to their arrival, she was involved in an argument with her boyfriend, Kerry Davon Langston. During the argument, Langston grabbed the female around her neck and began to strangle her. Officers were able to observe signs of injuries that did not require medical attention. Langston informed the officers that Langston left the area on foot. Prior to clearing the area, officers located Langston in the rear yard. Langston was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department. Langston was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner. Langston was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.

Charge: 2nd Degree Assault
On June 21, 2019 the Cumberland City Police Department took numerous complaints about vehicles being damaged in the 100 block of Springdale Street. It appears that during the early morning hours a suspect or suspects walked along Springdale Street using a sharp object to damage the paint on the sides of parked cars. At this time there have not been any suspects identified. The Cumberland City Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact them at 301-777-1600.
