On Friday, Cumberland City Police served an arrest warrant on Shaun Aaron Brooks, age 40, of Cumberland MD. Brooks was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant stemming from an incident that occurred on June 10, 2018. During this incident, it is alleged that Brooks assaulted a female victim at a Mechanic St business. Brooks was taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was released on his own recognizance.

Later, Police Officers arrested Aaron Scott Long, Age 39, of Cumberland MD. While on patrol, a city officer observed Long walking in the area of Columbia St. The officer had knowledge that Long had an outstanding arrest warrant for felony burglary stemming from an incident which occurred on June 6, 2018 at a Valley St residence. The officer confirmed the warrant and stopped to make contact with Long. The officer advised Long he was under arrest and attempted to restrain him. At this time, Long resisted the arrest and fled on foot. Officers searched the area for approx. 40 minutes before again locating Long on foot. Long again attempted to flee but was able to be taken into custody after a brief struggle. Long was then transported to PH for processing. Long was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance on both the Arrest Warrant and on-view charges. Long was released on his own recognizance.
