CDS/FIREARMS ARREST
On Tuesday December 30, 2014, at 9:00 pm, an off duty Cumberland City Police Officer observed an individual acting in a suspicious manner on Park Street. Michael Butler, age 19 of Cumberland, was observed repeatedly situating the right hand side of his hip area as he was walking on Park Street. A uniformed officer arrived and located Butler holding the right hand side of his waistband. Officers approached Butler and noticed a handgun in the waistband area of his pants. Butler was placed in custody without incident. The gun was found to be a .45 caliber loaded firearm. Also found on Butler were numerous baggies containing suspected marihuana, a digital scale and a sum of US currency. Butler was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing. He was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on a temporary commitment pending a hearing with legal representation.
