Busy Thursday for Police

On Thursday, October 1, 2015 Cumberland Police Officers served a criminal Summons on John Edward Klavuhn.   The summons stemmed from an incident that occurred on 09/27/15 at a Frederick Street residence.  A juvenile victim reported that Klavuhn allegedly hit him in the face with an item.  The victim stated a minor argument began with a sibling and Klavuhn then entered the room.  Another argument ensued with Klavuhn and the juvenile victim and Klavuhn then allegedly struck the victim in the face.  The victim left the residence and contacted the Police.  The summons was served on Klavuhn and he was released pending trial in District Court.

Criminal Summonses Served

On Thursday, October 1, 2015 Cumberland Police Officers served a criminal summons on Bradford Wayne Benton Jr. and Bradford Wayne Benton Sr.  The summonses stemmed from an incident that occurred on Maryland Avenue on 09/28/15.  Bradford Benton Jr. and his Father, Bradford Benton Sr. called the Police and stated they were the victim of a theft.  Officers began to investigate the alleged incident.  During their investigation it became apparent, after speaking to the suspect named by the Benton’s, both Benton Jr. and Benton Sr. were misleading the investigation.  Officer’s then spoke to Benton Sr. and he admitted he and his son reported a crime that did not occur.  Both subjects were served a criminal summons and were both released pending trial in District Court.

Theft Arrest

On Thursday, October 1, 2015 Officers responded to a Decatur Street business for a report of a theft.  Upon their arrival they spoke to the victim who stated her purse was stolen.  The victim and a witness both stated the suspect was still on the scene.  Officers contacted the suspect and after a short investigation, recovered the purse and missing property in the custody of the suspect.  The suspect, Ashley Spiroff, later admitted to the theft of the purse.  The stolen property was released back to the victim.  Ashley Spiroff was then placed under arrest and was transported to Police Headquarters.  She was then taken before a District Court Commissioner and was released on her own recognizance pending trial in District Court.
