On September 18, 2014 Cumberland City Police officers served an arrest warrant on a Cumberland man in the area of Arch Street. The charges stem from a private citizen complaint in which the victim alleges that Ronald Wayne Wigfield, 37, of Cumberland and two other suspects assaulted them on August 19, 2014. The victim in this case suffered severe facial injuries requiring treatment. As a result of this complaint, Wigfield was arrested and transported to Cumberland Police Headquarters for processing. Wigfield is charged with the following:
Assault 2nd Degree – 2 counts
Wigfield was transported to the Allegany County District Court for a bond hearing. He was subsequently released on a $10,000.00 unsecured bond. The two other suspects in this case have already been arrested and charged on similar warrants.
Theft Arrest
On September 18, 2014 Cumberland City Police officers were dispatched to a Park Street business in reference to a reported theft. Officers arrived on the scene, contacted loss prevention officers inside the business, and started an investigation. During the investigation, officers learned that suspect Kelly Lynn Carey, 31, of Cumberland was seen concealing store property in shopping bags and leaving the store without paying. Officers collected evidence at the scene and as a result Carey was placed under arrest. Carey was transported to Cumberland City Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with the following:
Theft Less than $1,000.00 – 1 count.
Carey was subsequently released on her personal recognizance pending trial at District Court.
CDS Arrest
On September 19, 2014 Cumberland City Police officers charged a Cumberland woman for CDS related charges after a routine traffic stop. Officers stopped a vehicle for a equipment violation on Lamont Street and contacted the operator. During the stop a K-9 scan was conducted on the vehicle which resulted in a positive alert for the presence of CDS. A search of the vehicle was conducted and CDS paraphernalia was located inside. As a result, Britney Jeanette Robey, 19, of Cumberland was charged with the following:
Possession of CDS Paraphernalia – 1 count
Robey was issued a criminal citation at the scene and released pending trial at District Court.
