On 09/15/14 at 1004am The Cumberland Police Department responded to a business located in the 700blk of Park St in reference to a shoplifting complaint. Upon arrival Officers contacted store employees who advised that they observed a male subject take several items without paying for them. Officers then contacted 32 year old Daniel Miller of Lonaconing and subsequently placed him under arrest. Miller was transported to the Cumberland Police Dept where he was issued a Maryland Criminal Citation for Theft Under $100.00 and Trespassing. Miller was released pending trial in District Court.
September 15th, 2014 Domestic Assault
On 09/15/14 at 2045hrs Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a residence located in the 500blk of Warren St in reference to an assault. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim who stated that 24 year old Daniel Penrod woke her up while sleeping. An argument ensued and the victim attempted to get away. Penrod then grabbed the victim by the neck and began to choke her. The victim sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention. Penrod was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Dept for processing. Penrod was charged with one count of Second Degree Assault. Penrod was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was released on his personal recognizance pending trial in District Court.
September 16th, 2014 Domestic Assault
On 09/16/14 at 0030hrs Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a residence located in the first Blk of S. Waverly Terrace in reference to an assault. Upon Officers arrival they contacted the victim who they observed to be bleeding from the head. The victim stated that they were hit with a baseball bat by 29 year old Chad Izat. Izat then threw a vacuum cleaner striking a juvenile in the shoulder area. Izat was located a short distance away from the residence and was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Dept for processing. Izat was charged with one count of First Degree Assault, two counts of Second Degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment. The victim was transported by the Cumberland Fire Dept to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for non life threatening injuries. The juvenile victim did not require medical attention. Izat was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was held on a $45,000 bond.
