The Allegany County Sheriff's Office was advised that on Thursday, April 16th, a small dog had possible been beaten to death in the area of Buck Hill Road in Lonaconing. The dog, part Beagle/Miniature Pincher named Melissa, was observed in the owners front yard and appeared to be lethargic. A short time later the owner found the animal deceased at the same location. The animal was examined by a Veterinarian, who advised that the animal had trauma the left side of it body. He was unable to determine what caused the trauma, but that it was consistent with being struck by a vehicle. The Sheriff's Office is asking if anyone has information on this incident to contact them. We are unsure if this incident was intentional or not. Residents from that area are offering a $1,000 reward, to anyone who has information on this incident, if it is found to have been intentional and leads to an arrest.
