Garrett County authorities arrested a 46-year old Kitzmiller man after a standoff early Saturday on Carl Harvey Road.
Todd Allen Whitacre has been charged with first and second degree assault and two counts of reckless endangerment after police received a domestic call. A female called a family member and said she was being threatened by her husband with a 12 gauge shotgun. After receiving no response at the residence, police called the victim, who was able to flee. Police were able to rescue a 2 year old child and then took Whitacre into custody without further incident. They also recovered a 12 gauge shotgun.
Whitacre was taken to the Garrett County Detention Center. He has been released after meeting the terms of a $25,000 bond. An interim domestic violence protective order has also been issued.
