After the homicide rate in Baltimore City reached 300 Thursday, Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said in an interview Thursday it could take seven to eight years for the homicide rate to decrease.
For five straight years, Baltimore City has had at least 300 homicides. The city hit the grim milestone Thursday after two shooting victims were found at the corner of McHenry and Monroe streets around 3 a.m.
