Plans are being finalized for the 2017 Mountain Maryland PACE Reception to be held next week- January 26 and 27 at the Loews Annapolis Hotel. The Thursday evening reception with legislative leaders is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The follow-up breakfast is the next morning from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and features Governor Larry Hogan as the keynote speaker along with U.S. Senator Ben Cardin and Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot. The event is hosted by the Cumberland/Allegany County Industrial Foundation and the Garrett County Development Corp. as a way to educate state legislators and officials about Allegany and Garrett counties from the local perspective- and is held during the initial weeks of the 90-day session of the Maryland General Assembly. County Engineer Paul Kahl provided an overview of some of the water, sewer and infrastructure projects whose funding was secured primarily as a result of pre-PACE meetings. Allegany County Commissioners Creade Brodie Jr and Bill Valentine say that while the reception is an enjoyable event to attend, PACE week consists of a great deal of work for local officials hoping to secure state funding for various projects…
