Petersburg Awarded Grant For Treatment Plant

June 12th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $738,638 for West Virginia from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Rural Development. Funding will support improvements to the City of Petersburg’s wastewater treatment plant, allowing the city to better serve its more than 1,200 sewer customers, and energy efficiency projects for two West Virginian small businesses.

“Federal resources like this funding for West Virginia communities support critical infrastructure and help our local economies grow and prosper,” Senator Capito said. “This funding will help the City of Petersburg provide basic services to its customers and better the health and well-being of the community. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fight for resources for West Virginia communities and rural America.”

“Our rural infrastructure is crucial to ensuring economic success and business development in our West Virginia communities. The impacts of these investments in the wastewater treatment plant in Petersburg, energy efficiency for the Family Adventure Resort in Harpers Ferry and solar panels for Thankful Valley Farms and Hatchery, LLC in Leon will be felt across our state. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for investments in West Virginia’s rural infrastructure projects,” Senator Manchin said.
