Allegany County 911 reports that a pedestrain was struck by a vehicle on Route 40 in the Red Hill area during the 6 AM hour. Initial reports were that the pedestrian suffered massive head trauma, but Maryland State Police confirmed to WCBC News that the accident was not a fatal, and Allegany County 911 told us that the victim was taken to Western Maryland Health System by LaVale Rescue Squad as a Priority One patient.
LaVale Fire Department and a medic from Corriganville also assisted at the scene..
Route 40 was closed in that area for about a half an hour, reopening at 7 AM.
