The Allegany County Public School System is reminding parents and guardians of all sixth grade students about Maryland immunization requirements necessary to enter seventh grade in the fall of 2017. Current sixth graders will need to provide proof of both the Tdap and the MCV (meningitis) vaccines prior to being permitted to begin the 2017-2018 school year as seventh graders. To make certain that students have an easy transition into seventh grade, the school system is requesting children to be vaccinated and a copy of the record sent to their school nurse. There is still plenty of time to have students vaccinated, and ACPS is simply providing parents with a courtesy reminder in an effort to prevent an additional visit to a child’s physician’s office should a wellness check appointment already be scheduled. For questions or concerns, parents should contact their child’s school nurse for more information.
