The Cumberland Times News reports Keyser City Councilwoman Karol Ashenfelter, who was removed from office Wednesday for what officials called conduct unbecoming of a council member, said Thursday she plans to "bow out gracefully." "I'm just glad to be done," she said. "They got what they wanted and that's fine." The city council voted 4-0 to remove her following a roughly 40-minute executive session. Ashenfelter said she doesn't think the move was legal, but won't pursue it. City Councilwoman Jen Junkins said Ashenfelter was removed following the procedures of a city ordinance. Ashenfelter said there are ethical issues going on within city government, but declined to elaborate.
