The Del Commission has formulated a list of recommendations as efforts to come to terms on a new five year contract with the county continue. The popular DelFest music festival at the Allegany County Fairgrounds has been held each Memorial Day weekend in the past ten years- but the last contract has expired and a new deal has been in negotiations since last year. A seven-member commission, called the Del Commission, was formed in January to study the logistics needed to establish a long-term deal for DelFest. One sticking point had been the status of tourism director Barb Buehl. Retiring from that post at year’s end, DelFest representatives have viewed her involvement in organizing the festival as significant. As a result one of the recommendations will be to see Buehl hired in a newly created position of DelFest liason.
