The 20th annual Oldtown Summerfest will be held June 22 and 23, with a variety of activities scheduled at the town’s ballfield along Opessa Street and on a portion of the thoroughfare itself. The event is free and open to the public.
The festival will get underway Saturday at 10 a.m. with a firemen’s parade, weather permitting. The festival grounds will open at 11 a.m., rain or shine, with the Lonesome Fiddle Ramblers performing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Matt Fields, the One-Man Band, will entertain the crowd from 2 to 4 p.m.
A live auction will start at 4 p.m. and the Worn Out Flannels will perform from 5 to 8 p.m.
The festival grounds will open on Sunday at 10 a.m. whether it’s raining or not, with a community church service under the festival tent at 11 a.m. Celeste Middle will perform gospel music from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Youth from the Allegany Boys Camp will sing from 2 to 3 p.m. at which time a duck race will begin. A live auction and silent auction will begin at 3:30 p.m., with Solid Gold performing from 4 to 7 p.m.
Craft and food vendors will be set up both days and visitors will find vintage cars, trucks and tractors on display on Sunday.
Reenactors in period dress have attended festivals in the past.
Activities for children will be offered, including a free bounce house. A Summerfest queen and princess will be crowned.
Also planned are a farmers market, community yard sale, a dunking booth, face painting and henna tattoos.
