The National Weather Service Office for our area says that minimum relative humidity values below 30% and Southwest winds that could guest up to 25 miles per hour are creating a fire danger. That combination of gust winds, low relative humidity and low fuel moisture will enhance the threat for the spread of wildfires this afternoon. Any fires that occur could spread quickly and be difficult to contain. Residents are encouraged to be very careful with heat and sparks while operating equipment, or smoking in wildland areas. Open burning is prohibited by law in Maryland before 4 PM, and in West Virginia before 5 PM.
