Almost 95 million to be exact, according to Ragina Avarella of the AAA Mid-Atlantic. Two million will be heading out in Maryland, about the same as last year, she said.
Almost 9 out of 10 are going by car nationwide.
Gas prices in Maryland are down slightly from last week to $3.36 a gallon.
Nationally, it's closer to $3.22 for regular this week.
This year most Marylanders who are traveling are going farther than last year with the average round trip of 965 miles, according to AAA.
And 53 percent of those traveling in Maryland are going more than 700 miles for the round trip, Avarella said.
