A compromise of sorts reached by the new Allegany County Board of Education, with an agreement to conduct the first sessions of the new year at the Central Office on Washington Street and at the Career Center near Cresaptown. There had been a disagreement following Wednesday’s swearing in ceremony, with members Wayne Foote, David Bohn and Robert Farrell looking to hold the first meeting of the new board at the Career Center- while members Tammy Fraley and Deb Frank said they preferred the regular monthly meeting site at the Central Office. The plan now apparently is for the board to meet in executive or closed session Tuesday from 1 to 3:30 at the Central Office- followed by the public session at the Career Center at 4PM. It may have been the first airing of differences among the new board members- but likely won’t be the last. Speculation is that the voting block of Farrell, Foote and Bohn plan to implement any number of changes ranging from rescinding the resolution to remove Foote from the board; to ousting the board attorney; as well as selecting a new board president and vice-president. Farrell, appearing on WCBC’s ‘Dave Norman Show” Thursday said one thing he wants to see is more accountability from Superintendent David Cox, who Farrell says often times makes himself unavailable as a result of out of town meetings. That is a practice he would like to see changed…
