On July 22, 2015 at approximately 7:05 PM, troopers from the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack responded to a motor vehicle collision on Downsville Pike south of Claymont Drive. Upon arrival, troopers determined that two vehicles were involved in the collision. Preliminary investigation would reveal that a 1999 Dutchstar RV was traveling southbound on Downsville Pike when a tire blew out. This caused the RV to travel from the southbound lane into the northbound lane striking the 2014 GMC Yukon head on. The driver of the Yukon was injured and transported by MSP Helicopter to Shock Trauma. The passenger of the Yukon was injured and transported by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center. The driver of the Dutchstar was injured and transported by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center. There were no reported injuries to any passengers in the Dutchstar RV. Troopers were assisted by Fire Police and CHART with traffic direction. Downsville Pike remains closed at this time. It is unknown at this time when the roadway will reopen. Further investigation will be completed by a Maryland State Police collision Reconstructionist.
