On August 8th, Maryland State Police Cumberland Barracks investigated a burglary that occurred at the Kwik & EZ fuel station on National Highway, Lavale, MD. The owner advised Troopers that sometime during the night, someone had forced entry into the business and stole nearly $4,000 in property to include Tobacco products and cash from a locked safe that had also been forced open.
It was later learned that Troopers conducting routine patrol checks of businesses in that area during the night, had conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle that was seen in the area. Information from that stop eventually led to the execution of a search and seizure warrant on the suspect’s residence and vehicle.
As a result, Charles Carter 2nd, 35 of Frostburg, MD, was arrested without incident. Nearly all of the stolen property was recovered from Carter’s residence and returned to the business/owner. He was also charged with possession of CDS, and CDS paraphernalia, which was located in his residence. Carter was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was released on his own recognizance pending trial.
