Maryland State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash in the drive through lanes of a fast food restaurant in Carroll County.
The victim is identified as Shanah Fish, 33, of Linthicum. She was driving a 1998 Chevy 1500 Pickup and had three young children in the vehicle with her at the time of the incident. Police believe all three children were secured in child safety seats.
At about 2:45 p.m. today, Maryland State Police from the Westminster Barrack responded to a report of a crash in the drive through lanes of a fast food restaurant in the 1700 block of Ridgeside Drive in Mt. Airy. Emergency medical services personnel removed Fish from the vehicle to begin medical treatment on scene before she was flown to Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police medevac.
The preliminary investigation indicates Fish opened the driver’s side door while in the drive through lanes for unknown reasons at this time. While she was reaching outside of the door, she accelerated the vehicle and subsequently pinned herself between the door and the wall of the restaurant.
Troopers from the Westminster Barrack responded to the crash. EMS personnel from the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
